PlanAquatics has no accounts, no database and no tracking. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and shows no advertising. Everything you build stays in your own browser unless you choose to share a link.

1. What information do we collect?
In short: nothing that you enter, because there is nothing to enter. A limited amount is recorded automatically by the web server, as it is on every website.
Information you give us
None. PlanAquatics has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no contact form. The only way to send us anything is to email us, which is entirely your choice — see section 5.
Information collected automatically
When any browser requests any web page, the server that answers records the request. For this site those logs are kept by our host and contain your IP address, your browser and device type, the page requested, and the time. We do not add to that, and there is no analytics script, tag manager, advertising pixel, heat map or session recorder anywhere on the site.
IP addresses are treated as personal information by several privacy laws, including the GDPR, even though they do not identify you by name. We do not use them to build a profile, and we do not attempt to identify anyone from them.
Information we do not collect
- No location data. The site never calls the browser's geolocation API and never asks for your position. Your approximate country can be inferred from an IP address by anyone holding one, but we neither do that nor store the result.
- No sensitive information — nothing about health, race, beliefs, sexual orientation, biometrics or similar.
- No information from third parties. Nobody sends us data about you.
- No payment information. The site is free and takes no payments.
2. What is stored on your device
In short: your saved builds and your display settings, in your own browser, never transmitted to us.
The site uses your browser's local storage — a private area belonging to your browser, on your computer or phone. It holds two things:

This is not a cookie and is not sent with requests. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browsing data for this site. We cannot delete it for you, because we cannot see it — and clearing it removes your saved builds permanently.
3. How do we use information?
In short: to serve the page, to keep it working, and to reply if you write to us. Nothing else.
- To deliver the site. Server logs are a by-product of answering your browser's request and are used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.
- To respond to you. If you email us, we use your address to reply.
- To comply with law, if we were ever legally required to.
We do not use information for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or analytics. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so at any time.
4. What legal bases do we rely on?
In short: legitimate interests for keeping the site up, consent when you choose to email us, and legal obligation where the law requires it.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR requires us to name a lawful basis for each purpose:
- Legitimate interests — operating and securing the website. Server logging is necessary to run any site safely, and it is minimal, ordinary and not used to profile anyone.
- Consent — you choose whether to email us. You can withdraw that at any time by asking us to delete the correspondence.
- Legal obligations — where we must retain or disclose something to comply with the law.
5. When and with whom do we share information?
In short: two service providers, both necessary to deliver the page. No advertisers, no data brokers, no analytics companies.
Vercel — hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps the server logs described in section 1. Vercel acts as our service provider, and its handling is governed by its own privacy policy. We do not read, export or analyse those logs.
Frankfurter — exchange rates
If you view the site over the internet rather than from a downloaded file, the page makes one
request to api.frankfurter.app to refresh currency exchange rates published by the
European Central Bank. That request necessarily reveals your IP address to that service. It carries
no information about you, your build, or what you were doing. If it fails or you are offline, the
site falls back to fixed rates and carries on.
Everything else
Nothing. There are no other embedded services, no advertising networks, and no third-party scripts of any kind. If the site were ever sold or transferred, any information held at the time would transfer with it, and this notice would be updated to say so.
6. Is your information transferred internationally?
In short: yes, unavoidably — the servers that deliver the page are outside Australia.
Vercel operates a global network and serves the site from whichever location is nearest you, so server logs may be processed outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. The exchange-rate service is operated in the European Union. Both are ordinary infrastructure providers processing technical data, not repositories of information about you.
7. How long do we keep information?
In short: we keep nothing ourselves except email. Server logs are retained by our host on its own schedule.
- Server logs — retained by Vercel under its own retention policy, typically a short operational period. We do not keep separate copies.
- Email — kept while it is useful to answer you, and deleted on request.
- Saved builds and settings — kept on your device until you clear them. We never hold them, so we cannot keep or delete them.
8. Cookies, tracking and Do-Not-Track
In short: no cookies, no trackers, nothing to consent to.
The site sets no cookies of any kind, which is why you have never been shown a cookie banner. There is no analytics, no advertising and no cross-site tracking, so there is nothing to opt out of and no consent for us to collect.
Because we do not track you in the first place, browser Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control signals make no difference to how this site behaves — there is no tracking for them to switch off. Some laws, including California's, require us to say how we respond to those signals; this paragraph is that statement.
9. Share links
In short: the link is the build. Anyone holding it can open it.
Copy link encodes your entire build into the web address itself. Nothing is uploaded and no copy is kept by us. That has one consequence worth understanding: anyone who has the link can open the build. Treat a link the way you would treat the document it contains, and be aware that if you paste it into a public forum, it is public.
10. Do we collect information from minors?
In short: the site is suitable for young people, and collects nothing from anyone.
Fishkeeping is a hobby many young people enjoy, and PlanAquatics is designed to be usable by them. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either, and there is no account to create and no data to sell. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, tell us and we will delete it.
11. What are your privacy rights?
In short: you have the usual rights, and there is very little for them to apply to.
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information held about you, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, and not to be subject to automated decision-making. We make no automated decisions about anyone.
Two practical qualifications:
- The server logs described in section 1 contain IP addresses. They sit with our host, so a request to access or erase them has to reach Vercel as well as us, and they may already have expired.
- If you have emailed us, we hold that email and will delete it on request.
Everything else — your saved builds, your unit, currency and theme choices — is held on your own device, where we cannot reach it. There is nothing there for us to disclose, correct or erase, and clearing your browsing data removes it entirely.
To exercise any of this, email planaquatics@outlook.com. We do not charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
12. How to make a complaint
In short: tell us first, and you can escalate to your regulator.
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please raise it with us — we will acknowledge it and explain the outcome. You can also complain directly to a supervisory authority:
- Australia — the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
- New Zealand — the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
- EEA — your national data protection authority. UK — the Information Commissioner's Office.
13. Do we make updates to this notice?
In short: yes, and the date at the top will change.
If this notice changes, the "last updated" date changes with it. If a change ever means the site starts collecting something it does not collect today — an account system, for instance — that will be stated plainly rather than buried here.
